Silk Cocoons, 40 count

These are actual intact silk cocoons, with the dead silk worm still inside. The cocoons have been steamed to kill the worm so it will not make its way out of the cocoon and destroy the silk.

Silk cocoons can be degummed and the silk reeled off.. You can produce a silk bell or cap by slitting the cocoon, removing the worm,and then degumming them. Drying them over an upside down mixing bowl and layering them will produce a slip cap or bell.

Some cocoons may be slightly dented due to shipping and some may have brown stains from the silk worm inside.
