This is a scan of a German-printed postcard that came to me from Italy (mailed to Vercellese in 1904), written in English! I have cleaned this image up quite a bit, yet still retained its antiquity with foxing spots and specks. I have not tweaked the colors. These are not 21st century Photoshop colors generated by a computer, but superb 19th century German-crafted colors as vivid as 100+ years ago. I love these little birds because they are so colorful and nicely 'fat.' Also, the real clincher for me is the bird in the center looking straight at us. I've provided a closeup so you can get a chuckle, too. "What? You looking at me?!" he seems to say:) Now, notice that under the branch in the center is a little insignia that says E.S./D.B. I'm assuming that would be the artist or publisher's mark. If you want that cloned out, I will do so upon request. Otherwise, I couldn't bring myself to do so. It makes me think of that puppy love habit of carving/writing one's initials next to the initials of the one you're crazy about....
