Here are two scans, front and back, of a postcard mailed from Paris in Jan. 1912. This is technically a German postcard, printed by the NPG company, which I think produced some of the highest quality postcards ever during the Golden Age of Postcards. This is a real photo that has been color tinted by hand. The end result is a stunning surreal mix, making the item look almost like a painting. I'm not super fond of the red stamp at top, but I love the way the glue from the stamp smeared all around it! As you can see from my gallery closeup, you can easily crop the stamp out and still have an awesome scan. Or maybe you'll want to add something to this image to tie in more red accents? The scene itself just grips my heart. Can you remember your momma teaching you something extra special? Leaning over your shoulder, guiding your hand? This would certainly make a unique and precious Mother's Day gift. Turn it into a card, use it for a journal cover or enlarge it for a piece of 8 x 10 wall art! I'm including a back of the scan also for those of you who can't get enough French script. The sender wrote what is often the first phrase we memorize in French class: Comment allez-vous? Literally: How goes it with you? Or, How are you?
