Excuse me while I pat myself on the back:) This scan is a combination of two antique French postcards. I thought the original woman in the "burst out" section was rather homely, so I 'cloned' in one of my favorite stage performers, a woman by the name of C de Villers. Mademoiselle de Villers was a real beauty featured in many of Paris photographer Reutlinger's postcards. And now here she is, busting out of this advertisement, newspaper page. Notice that along with the ballet and Hindu elephants, another act coming to town is the American circus! See the very last line: le defile du grand cirque americain -- that translates as "procession of the large American circus." This is just such a wonderful collage of words -- perfect to use in an altered book art project. I have left creased corners and creases at the edges to retain the authentic antique status of this image. Have fun with it!
