In the old days at the turn of the century, family portraits were often printed in postcard format as well as the big cabinet card style. It's always a real joy to discover a one-of-a-kind card from the Golden Age of Postcards when they were produced en masse by the millions. This is a scan of one such card. It was sent as a thank you to their cousins for a gift, a box of 'delicious delights' that were enjoyed along with a ham dish! There is little Marie-Cecile, looking adorably sad (!), Marguerite (mother or sister I'm not sure) and the young teen-age (?) girl named Pascale. I love the 'pose' and composition of this trio of women. The image is classic and captivating. One look and you are drawn in, wishing that you could be a part of their world!
Please note that I start with a 1200 dpi scan. So even though I've cropped in and cut away most of the card to focus just on the portrait, the resulting 300 dpi scan can printed 2-3 times its size without losing any quality. The square scan is about 5.5 by just under 5 inches. The semi-cleaned up original version is 3.5 by 5.5 inches. When you put in your order, please specify which version you'd like.
