This is a scan of an antique postcard sending Faithful Friendship/Fidele Amitie. Aren't these peach-breasted birds just darling! Although not dated or postally sent, it has a cute message on the back which, best as I can translate, reads: If you are very clever, you should know who this card comes from with a hello from The Carcannerie. Interestingly, I found one reference to La Carcannerie online -- and it's on a site dedicated to Chalons-en-Champagne, a city northeast of Paris. A commenter recalls the old days, writing that where a current shopping center stands it used to be a dirt road that dead ended at the slaughterhouse! Oui, oui, La Carcannerie! Chalons-en-Champagne used to called Chalons-sur-Marne and according to Wikipedia, "After being defeated by the Red Baron, Snoopy crawls past a sign for Chalons Sur Marne, in the classic 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.'":)
