"Beth March" Little Women My Twinn doll dress
Beth March is the third of the four March sisters from the book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott which takes place during the American Civil War. This dress is inspired by her character in the book and movies, so it would work for any doll who wants to dress up like a young lady from the 1860s.
The dress is a simple style made up in 100% cream/green/burgundy/salmon cotton calico. The bodice closes in the back, and is slightly fitted with gathers. The waistline is piped with handmade piping, and the very full skirt is attached with gauging (tiny “cartridge” pleats individually hand stitched to the piping).
Three hooks and eyes close up the back. The bodice is lined with white cotton. The sleeves are bias-cut and gathered into the armscye. The raw edges flutter over her shoulders.
*Historical note* This is the most historically accurate of the four dresses in my Little Women collection. I did my best to insure that there are not any inaccuracies.
The last image shows Beth with her other sisters. Their dresses are also available in my shop!
