This listing is for a PDF pattern to knit Ballet Style Slippers. Remarkably, a pair of slippers made with this pattern will fit sizes Small through Large!! They are worked in the round on double pointed needles. Two circulars could be used instead of dpn's, with stitch markers placed to keep track of the start points for each dpn. l will email the pattern to you in PDF form as soon as possible after receiving your payment.

REQUIRED NOTIONS AND SKILLS:

A set of Size 5 DPN's
(OR 2 size 5 circ's and 4 stitch markers)
Sport weight yarn
(or sock yarn or afghan yarn held double)
A cable holder OR the extra DPN is fine
A tapestry needle for grafting and weaving ends

Skills: Knitting in the round, cabling, and grafting.

A BLAB ABOUT THE PATTERN:

After designing the pattern for Maryjane slippers (which you can find here also) and making a LOT of pairs of them, I decided I'd like a ballet style slipper too. My desires remained the same to the largest extent, i.e., smooth soles, a good fit but one that will stretch or not to fit several sizes, and (of course), and pretty look.

Working from the "taking off point" of the Maryjane slippers, I adapted the pattern and came out with this, another of my own design. As with the Maryjanes, the toes are adorned with cabling and the soles are smooth, i.e., no annoying bumps or patterning.

I find these really terrific for 'round the house, and they look especially presentable when worn while otherwise dressed since they're very similar to ballet style flats and don't particularly call attention to the fact that you're wearing slippers! :D
