My name is Carolyn West and I have been sewing for 40+ years. I am the mother of 8 children, 2 of which are at home and I am the grandmother of 4 (Twins, Ben and Bella, 5), (Ellura, 3 and her new brother, Tavian (TJ), born in February 2010).
I began sewing when I was 5 and designing clothes for myself and others in High School. After giving birth to a preemie, I started designing preemie clothes and patterns.
I worked at JC Penney doing alterations of mens suits and bridal gowns and opened a shop in my home doing alterations and custom sewing. Along the way I decided that making baby clothes was much more fun and less stressful.
I started Lil' Baby Thangs to do what I love and as a way to get my designs perfected, published and available to others who have had or sew for preemies and babies of all sizes.
Most of my patterns are designed for cotton knit fabric and cotton knits are getting hard to find.
As I find them I will add them to my shop to make it easier on you to get them.
