Long Eared Owl
Gleaned from Jardine's 1833 natural history volume on birds of Great Britain and Ireland, a sumptuous hand-colored engraving credited to the famous John Home Lizars of Edinburgh.
The heavy paper is blank on its reverse, top-edged in gold, and measures 4.25" x 6.5" (11x17 cm). The protective tissue guard remains attached so tanning is seen to betray its 175+ years. The edges are smooth and clear and the corner tips have only just softened. There are no tears, folds, creases, or marks on the paper.
An absolutely gorgeous study to frame or use in your art ~ it's a lovely antique paper.
