Antique 1815 Austrian Biedermeier Era Natural History Engraving, Arachnids and Spiders [Merkwurdige Spinnen. Strange Spiders]

Two engraved papers gleaned from an 1815 folio edition of Bertuch's 'Picture Book For The Use and Amusement of Youth', including ~

~Detailed, hand-colored engravings of 6 spiders
~2-sided text page describing the engravings in German and French

Each paper measures approximately 8" x 9.5" (20x24 cm), with plate marks can be seen clearly on both. Little tanning is seen on either paper ~ perhaps due to the fact these are woven papers.

The hand-colored engravings are wonderfully vivid and bright on a quite heavy paper. The text page is a lighter weight paper ~ but not tissue-y and the imprinted text is clear and strong.

Wonderful studies to frame, fantastic to use in your art, card and jewelry making, collage, decoupage.

You are purchasing original 1815 engravings and they do not have watermarks. I'll send these to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.
