Antique Jean Dunand Lacquer Portrait 1932 Art Deco Embossed Chromolithograph
Antique 1934 Jean Dunand Art Deco Poster Embossed Chromolithgraph Lacquer Portrait
A beautiful portrait!
From a war time issue of L'Illustration magazine, this paper was meant to be removed from the journal for framing. It was included as part of a tribute to the life and work of Swiss Deco Artist, Jean Dunand ~ sculptor, interior designer, and considered the best lacquer artist of the Art Deco period.
The piece is spectacular ~ an embossed chromolithograph titled only as 'Portrait' and signed 'Jean Dunand (Laque)'. The original work was in the collection of the Artist, Dunand, in Switzerland at the time of publication.
The Lady's gown is a rich royal blue, the folds are embossed lending texture and depth. The blouse is a rich Asian lotus design of embossed silver on a teal and royal blue ground. Her eyes are clear and her gaze is strong. I have no provenance to the work, but I think the woman is Dunand's wife. Love and admiration is so clearly evident in the work.
The paper is heavy, a card stock weight. The embossing can be seen very clearly on the blank reverse. The paper measures a grand 11.125" x 14.875" (28x38 cm).
Please expect the normal edge pings seen in paper of this age but nothing of significance ~ matting and framing will easily so to these minor imperfections.
You are purchasing an original 1934 paper and it does not have watermarks. I'll send this to you flat, protected, by USPS 1st Class.
