1873 Victorian Penmanship Engraving of Poetic Gems
From an 1873 Victorian business guide, one gorgeous engraved penmanship and poetic flourishing page in black and cream ... a paper which clearly demonstrates why I would never have made it in business back in 1873, if writing like this was required.
A stunning page, gently and evenly tanned and creating that lovely, warm, antique'd black/sepia look. The engravings are clear and bright and the flourishing ... the flourishes are simply remarkable.
Three doves are presented with scrolls and feathered flourishing ~ simply lovely. I've transcribed the beautiful hand writting at the end of this listing.
The paper is clear and smooth and the corners sharp. Blank on its reverse, the page measures 8.25" x 10.5" (21x27 cm) and there are no marks, folds, creases, or tears on the page. A unique and beautiful paper to frame, great for your art.
You are purchasing an original 1873 engraving paper and it does not have a watermark. I'll send this to you flat, protected, and by USPS 1st Class mail.

Full many a gem of purest ray serene
The dark unfathom'd caves of ocean bear:
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen,
And waste its sweetness on the desert air.
Thomas Gray's 'Elegy Written in a Country Church-Yard'
God pity them both! And pity us all,
Who vainly the dreams of youth recall;
For of all sad words of tongue or pen,
The saddest are these: 'It might have been!'
