The sage green cotton thread in this doily looks so rich, with a bit of a gloss. The pattern is dense enough to be an effective large-size coaster. It would be perfect on a side table beneath a vase, or under a pitcher of iced tea. The ornate design reminds me of some of the mosaic tile designs I saw in southern Spain last year. Call it a small doily or a large coaster, either way it is a beautiful piece.
