Description

The vintage cabochon (imitation jewel) on this pendant is made of glass and foil, to resemble opal. It has shimmering colours of pink, blue, mauve, amber, and yellow, and is mounted in an ornate, antiqued-silver coloured setting.

The unusual chain has spiral shaped links, and is also vintage; though I do not know how old it is or where it has come from. It has been polished to bring up the highlights. The silver plating on the clasp, and in some places on the chain, is beginning to rub off, adding to the old-fashioned feel of this necklace.
The setting is made of brass, and has wonderful detail. It is hollow-backed, so the pendant hangs well but is not heavy.

This one of a kind necklace has remarkable presence, and has received many comments from those who have seen it. Something about this piece gives it a charisma and dignity of its own.
One thing I love about this piece is its versatility: a bit fantasy-inspired (the cabochon reminds me of a dragon's egg), a touch of steampunk in the setting and chain, and a good dash of neovictorian gothic ...

The chain measures 49.7cm, including the spring-bolt clasp. The setting measures 30mm from top to bottom, not including the baile (hanging loop), and 26mm across at its widest point.
The setting is hollow backed, so the pendant is not as heavy as it may look.
Unlike most Silverlight Jewellery pieces, this necklace cannot be altered in length.
