My name is Sandy Gagliano and I am a Toronto based jewellery designer, founder and owner of Tesoro del Sol Jewellery Designs. I specialize in one-of-a-kind, handcrafted gemstone jewellery working with an array of semi-precious stones in collaboration with various metals. Although at times my inspirations come from the most unlikely sources, many are derived from my love of warm and intense colours and distinct natural textures. Extensive travels to Mexico have also inspired my designs and enabled them to reach an exotic, yet glamorous level.

My passion for designing and creating jewellery began when I stumbled upon an old treasure chest filled with vintage beaded necklaces that I thought looked like they needed to be “rescued”. With little to no tools at hand, I began to reinvent some of the pieces by taking each one apart, then mixing and matching the loose beads to create new pieces.
Before long, I felt compelled to begin wearing my newly crafted designs. Much to my surprise I began to turn heads as people began to take notice of my new found talent.

I can't go on without saying that I owe much of my innate creativity to my mother Carmela, who is also an artist in her own right. For as long as I could remember, my mother would crochet various items using brightly coloured yarn. Although her craft remained a life long hobby, she undeniably passed the skill of attention to detail and ability to work with delicate materials onto me. My mother often referred to me and my 3 older sisters as “Tesoro di mamma”, which translates to “mother’s treasure” in which I have used as the inspiration behind my company name Tesoro del Sol.

I am looking forward to reaching new frontiers with my designs and hope to impart an everlasting impression on those who embrace them.
