1926 Garden Flowers Book Nature Library Robert McCurdy
This vintage book is just the thing for anyone who loves to garden! The classification of flowers into seasons may be slightly arbitrary since flowering times vary greatly based on your location, but the book is still a great read!
This 8.25" x 5.5" book features 310 pages devoted to short descriptions of many flowering plants with suggestions for planting and arranging in your own flower garden. In the back of the volume, there is a color guide, with flowers listed by color, as well as a name index that includes both scientific and common names. The 48 color plate illustrations are the highlight of the book. They are simply amazing! There are 24 pages of two-sided color illustrations.
This book is copyrighted 1917, 1926. The former owner's name and the date December 1952 is written on the fly leaf of the book.
The book is in good vintage condition, with the yellowing to the text pages one would expect to see in a book of this age. The illustrations are printed on a different type of paper and wear their years much better. When viewed from the top edge of the book, the page edges appear green. There is some light soiling to the green hard covers and a little wear to the gilt decorations on the front cover and spines, but overall still in good condition. No tears, rips or dog ears noted. Binding is good.
