I had put this one back for awhile and was absolutely dumbfounded when I ironed and measured It. Not only is this thick sateen dress flawless with not even the tiniest pull But, It measures out as a Vintage 15-16!!!! It is marked as a 13 but, in those days it wasn't uncommon to have dresses incorrectly sized. This is one of Them.
This is an early 70s Gunne Sax according to the Tag. The main fabric is a lush and thick sateen in a light to Pure peach color. The Ren collar is high with macrame lace adorning it. The sleeves have the familiar zipper and are of the sateen with more macrame adornments. The billowy, textured tulle sleeves have a floral pattern woven into them and are just the lightest of a cream color.
The waist is empire with sashes at each side to tie in the back and the skirting melts down to a ruffle adorned with matching macrame lace. The hem has been raised But the length of the dress is still more than 61" long. As a reference, the mannequin is 5" 10" tall.
For a Gunne Sax dress, this one seems highly undecorated. It isn't until You put it on and the Lovely Shine of the fabric takes over that You can see that no ornamentation is needed. This IS an absolutely Stunning Gown!
