Sneak Peek at Upcoming Changes!

We are only days away from launching all our exciting changes!!  :)

If you haven’t heard about all the changes going on at Zibbet, you can read about it here.  And if you haven’t already, make sure you read our informative ‘FAQ’s Related to Upcoming Changes’ blog too.

We’re currently in the ‘testing phase’, to make sure everything in the system is working as it should.  We plan to launch our new changes within the next 2 days!!

Today we uploaded one small part of our changes.  As you can see from the image below, the theme of the shop (banner, colors - Premium sellers), will now be continued throughout all the pages of your shop, including your items pages (pictured below).  We’ve also added a ‘Shop Navigation’ section to the right hand side of the page, which encourages the buyer to continue browsing through all the items in your shop.

    None of these changes address the only genuine difficulty I’ve found with zibbet-your shipping. I cannot simply come up with one shipping charge to cover any and all International sales-and this really limits my ability to sell to anyone who isn’t Canadian or from the US, where shipping is approximately the same.
    I think that hard practical solutions to actual selling and shipping problems are more important than cosmetic differences, and nothing so far encourages me to become a so-called “premium” member-sorry…I did become a premium member at Artfire for three months at $12 a month, and saw absolutely no sales, so I am very leery of spending more money per month to do less than i can do there, and I’m cancelling my Artfire subscription, so it makes no sense currently to pay for less than I’m getting on another site where I wasn’t successful with any sales after three months, and Artfire has wonderful set-ups for it’s sellers, such as automatic Google Analytics and my favourite, one page listing.
    I will of course keep my free account as long as it is possible to do so-but so far I am not encouraged to change over to a paid account.

    @mizdarlin: Fixing ’shipping’ is the next thing we have on our list, after we launch our new ‘referral program’. You can expect shipping changes to be complete within the next 2 weeks.

    As for more features, we’re just getting started! You can expect a lot more over the coming weeks! ;)

    Are we getting personalized banners with thumbnails of items from your own shop? I am hoping that it is there in the undisclosed part of the changes :P Shipping profiles will be great too.

    @Nithya: Building a Zibbet Widget, where you can display your shop’s items on your blog, MySpace, Facebook etc is on the list. We’ll also make it so that people can actually purchase items from your shop right from your blog, MySpace etc… You’re going to love it! :)

    @BagsPlusMore: Once we launch our new Referral Program (around 1 weeks time), you’ll be able to get $1 off your Premium account each month, for every upgraded seller you refer to Zibbet. Therefore, if you refer just 7 friends, you’ll get your Premium account for free…forever! Basic members can participate in this as well. :)

    YES I just did my upgrade. I guess it takes a bit for the system to recognize i have upgraded right. I went in to get started and it tells me i can’t have to upgrade. OKAY i will sit on my hands for a while and then come back in to change stuff around and add more.

    @AlwaysCrafty2: We’ve noticed that sometimes it takes PayPal a little while to let us know that you’ve upgraded. We’re looking into it, as this should happen instantly.

    Thank you so much, I love my premium shop! However I am having trouble putting items in my sections. I have created three sections and am trying to get my items saved in the sections and it is not doing it. I press save and nothing gets saved to it’s selected section! ??? Please help! =)

    I think you need a save button below the sections, as it is not saving to the sections. Other sites that have options like this usually have a save button right underneath to save that section, there is no save button except for the one at the bottom and that button is not saving anything!?? =)

    Jonathan and the team,
    Lovely changes and great direction going forward for Zibbet :-) Love my new shop with all the changes. I have the same issue as beautifullywiredlynx, that my items are not getting saved to the sections.

    Overall, the usability is excellent, editing stuff is real simple and there is no clutter anywhere. A big thumbs up for that :) A couple of minor usability issues though -

    For existing sellers who upgrade, there would be many items already and they have to be managed into the sections. Currently I think each item must be individually edited and saved to a section. It would be great to just list the items, use a checkbox to select them and a single click to allocate them to a particular section. I edited 26 items and later realized they dint get saved :(

    @Nithya: A batch way to do sections is on our ‘improvements’ list. It’s a great idea. Your shop looks great by the way. Love the banner! :)

    Hi Jonathan…I played with some of the changes today! I love the large banner, the widgets and color customizing! And, I’m excited the shop sections are working ~ I’ll get on that in my shop tomorrow. I think the changes you’ve made will only continue to improve Zibbet and offer more exciting and useful options for sellers AND buyers! Many thanks for all your efforts and hard work.

    Hi Jonathan…I’ve spent some time this evening customizing my shop, and finally found a colour combination I like, now I have to get busy and put some more listings in my shop :) I like the premium features…especially the widgets, it’s nice to be able to let other Zibbeters know where else you are on the web.

    I am also impressed with the quick response I received from the Zibbet team last night. I had upgraded my account yesterday afternoon, and when it still wasn’t showing as upgraded last night, I contacted Zibbet and within half an hour, my account had been upgraded manually! Thank you =D

    Hi Jonathan,
    I upgraded my shop today, I love the way I can customize my shop! Thank you!
    Only one thing I can’t do, I can’t add any widgets to my shop. A box keep poping up, and I can’t navigate from my page after that, can’t even close my Internet Explorer. I have to log out my account each time I try to add a widget.
    Is it only my computer, or anyone else experienced this problem?
    Hope you can help me :)

    WOO-HOO!!!
    Loving being a Premium member! As I have mentioned to you in the past, Jonathan, I am the ULTIMATE TECHNO-TWIT. I have a hard time figuring out how to use my email each time they ‘upgrade’!
    But I went in last night and added 3 widgets - one of which I created - and they all work!!! It’s so nice to be able to cross-market with my other online shops. In fact I like the new Zibbet so much I think I’m going to rename my shop and bring over everything I have for sale in another online venue and shut it down.
    Unfortunately, I still have 2 more shows I have to get through before I can list anything else. After Sept. 12 I will be listing everything I have left. Looking forward to doing so!

    Hi Jonathan - Like the shop and set up but am not brilliant with new things. Two questions, attempted to upload photo a couple of weeks ago. Site would not accept local pricing, have had this problem before, I live in UK. Next, satisfied customers, the last time I looked there was only one from March 09 I think. Dave.

    Hi Zoomin,

    We’ll be adding in the ability to list your items in different currencies in the near future.

    Customers have the option to leave a testimonial for us once a transaction is complete. They are only sent this invitation if they leave ‘feedback’ for the seller. Many buyers don’t leave feedback for the seller, even though we encourage them to, and even less leave a testimonial for us!

    Perhaps you can support other sellers on the site by buying something and then leave a testimonial for us. We include customer testimonials on our ’search results’ page, along with a link to either the buyers ‘profile’ or sellers ’shop’. :)

    I’ve had a great time customizing my shop and I still have lots of tweaks I want to try when I have more time to spare but for now I’m really pleased with the way it is going! I have one very tiny gripe though - have you any plans to change the way you present item views info? I’m finding it hard to get my head around the way it is presented, maybe because i have got used to other sites’ way of doing it. When you say “This shows how many times an item has been displayed on the home page, search page, or in people’s favorites, and other places around Zibbet.” am I correct in assuming this does not mean that a potential buyer has actually gone to the bother of clicking on the item link to se more info? As I say this is a minor irritation and it may just be me not adapting to new ways! :)
