COUPONS & GIFT CERTIFICATES! - Coming soon…
The ability to generate your very own customized promotional coupon codes and gift certificates is just around the corner!
Giving out coupon codes is a great way to promote your shop and generate more sales. It’s also a great way to promote repeat business. As an example, you could send a coupon with every order that allows the buyer to get 10% off their next purchase.
The Coupons/Gift Certificates feature will only be available to ‘Premium Sellers’. Not a Premium member yet? Simply log into your account, click on the ‘Upgrade My Account’ link and follow the instructions. Our Premium Sellers LOVE their shops! You won’t regret it.
Speaking of coupons…use this coupon to get your first month absolutely FREE - “EARLYCHRISTMASPRESENT“. Only valid until midnight, 20th November.
Please note that the coupons/gift certificates will be able to be easily redeemed at checkout. No more refunding through PayPal after they purchase!
As mentioned, the coupons that you generate are fully customizable. You can generate as many different codes as you want and specify either a ‘value’ or ‘percentage’ discount for each. You can define a starting and an ending date for special promotions, number of times the code can be used, as well as a minimum order value for a code to be applicable.
A few examples of what coupons you could generate:
“30% off your next purchase for orders over $50. Use code: WHATEVERYOUWANT”
“Next 5 people to buy from my shop will get 10% off. Valid until midnight tonight. Use code: TENOFF”
“You’ll get $10 off your next purchase (for orders over $100). Use code: LUEPF”
As you can see, you have the flexibility to generate a coupon that suits YOUR business.
For ‘Gift Certificates’ you would simply generate a “value” coupon and then sell the gift certificate through your shop. It’s up to you whether you send the buyer an actual gift certificate in the mail with the coupon code on it, or if you just send it electronically.

Be sure to know your states rules on girft certificates. For instance, in CA, it is illegal to have an expiration date on a gift certificate. I am sm sure how this effects gift certificates on the web though - would love some insight…. daintiedesigns@aol.com Thanks!

It’s great to see that you’re all so excited for the coupons feature! It’s currently the most requested feature on Etsy so we knew you would love it.
As mentioned, it is important to make sure you’re complying with the laws of your state regarding Gift Certificates. We’ll be making mention of this at the bottom of the coupons/gift certificate creation page.
By the way, multiple item checkout is the next feature on our list.

Has the team thought of batch shipping? I just had to go through all of my listings, and change the shipping profile for our sale tomorrow. It would be great to have all of my active items appear, with the ability to change the shipping profile on them together in 1 step.

I’ve not had time to really explore Zibbet yet, but wonder if you will be working on ability to copy listing from other venues. Since I’m just getting started on my Zibbet shop that would really be a timesaver.
dixiedazzle: Yes, we hope to have an Etsy Import system in place some time in January. It’s fairly high on our priority list.
Development Update: Things are obviously taking longer than expected. Jess is working through some more coding issues that have arisen as a result of us making coupons even more customizable. You’ll now be able to offer a ‘free gift’ and choose how much they must spend to take advantage of your offer. You’ll also be able to set coupons to apply only to a certain ’section(s)’ in your shop if you wish.
We’re really hoping it will be finished by the end of this week (18th December). Sorry for the delay everyone!
