Featured Zibbeter - EpiqueMetalworx

Perfect timing for this week’s Featured Zibbeter, because we can help welcome her brand new granddaughter. Meet Jennifer who is the owner of Epique Metalworx located in Langley, British Columbia.

She says she has only been making her handcrafted wire and bead jewelry for a short time, but she sure is learning fast. Besides being a busy mother, step-mother, grandmother and working a full-time job outside of her home, she still finds time to take jewelry design classes so she can refine the craft she is passionate about.

Jennifer is a member of two groups on Zibbet Community, Canadian Zibbeters and Wire Artists. You can meet up with her there. You can also follow Jennifer on Twitter and Facebook.

We’re sure you’ll enjoy getting to know this dedicated member of Zibbet.

  1. Tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m a mom of 3 and step mom of 2. Just about 3 weeks ago I became a first time grandma and loving it! She’s my pride and joy!

I’m a self-taught jewelry artist, but I just enrolled in a distance learning program in Jewelry Design and Repair to learn new  techniques and to perfect the ones I’m using now. I would love to be able to do this for a living.

  2. Apart from being ‘creative’ what do you do?

I work full time as an Assistant Manager for a popular quick serve restaurant. I really enjoy working out; watching various sports (especially hockey!); playing on the computer; role playing games; hiking , camping and being outdoors and riding around on my electric scooter.

  3. What inspires you to do the kind of work you do?

I’ve always been creative. As a kid I used to do a lot of drawing, mostly people and animals. As I grew up, I lost a lot of my drive to create. Recently, that drive came back full force when searching for jewelry to wear for a concert. I couldn’t find anything that I really liked. So I decided to make my own and never looked back! I love the look and feel of metal and wire. It’s so “industrial” which I love!

I love the feeling of accomplishment when you look at a piece of work you’ve made. Creating is definitely my “happy place”.

  4. Do you look up to anyone? Who? Why?

I look up to anyone who goes for their dreams, no matter how old they are. It’s never too late!

  5. What other passions do you have in your life?

I would really love to be able to travel. There are so many places to explore and people to meet in this world! My children and grand daughter are also the most important things in my life.

  6. What do you like most about Zibbet?

Everything! I made a sale in the first month. I had stores on other popular handmade websites, and barely had any hits and not a single sale! I didn’t do anything different with Zibbet, but the exposure was far greater. I love being able to customize colours  and add widgets.  I’m just very happy I joined when I did!

  7. What ‘new’ things would you like to see added to Zibbet?

There aren’t many things I can think of that they don’t already have. I would make the search feature a little more precise, but that’s about it.

  8. How do you promote your work?

I make use out of social networking like Facebook and Twitter. Twitter has been extremely successful, especially when you use a service that automatically “tweets” for you. I also wear my own pieces out, so when I get compliments on them, I just hand them a business card. Works like a charm!

  9. How would you recommend other Zibbeters make the most of Zibbet.com?

Definitely sign up as a Premium Member. Customize and use the widgets. I think it shows you care and are serious when you take the time to make your store your own.

  10. In the future I’d like to be…

… a jewelry artist with no limits!

Your wire jewelry is gorgeous! Once upon a time I tried, but I largely underestimated the kind of skill it takes to make beautiful work. I have a newfound appreciation for wire artists!

    Congrats on the new granddaughter!
