Tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born into a family of artists, musicians now at four generations of creativity including my two sons Jared and Spencer. My Grandpa was a professor of the arts in Germany and my Dad was a great Canadian landscape painter and a jazz drummer.Since a boy in my dad’s studio, I have been painting all my life and have been professional for over 35 years. For me painting is my passion and I have to create something daily.
I live with my wife in the country on a lake surrounded by nature and all of what life can visually offer an artist. I am the arist and with a background in marketing runs over 100 web sites all based on Prankearts creations.
-
Apart from being ‘creative’ what do you do?
I am a cabinetmaker, store display designer, commercial and industrial renovator and work close with the folding carton industry on special needs production planning.
I love to take on home design projects using all kinds of different materials. -
What inspires you to do the kind of work you do?
The very essence of this beautiful planet is enough to go on forever.
I was on the road yesterday and the sun, a ball of bright yellow orange was rising between a stand of maple trees and I slowed down to capture the image in my mind and will be one of my next paintings.
-
Do you look up to anyone? Who? Why?
Naturally my Dad who gave me everything possible to be the artist I am today.
Next would be Canada’s Group of seven and in particular Tom Thompson.
-
What other passions do you have in your life?
Music and history. I studied classical music on the French horn and switched to jazz on trumpet. In the 80’s I played guitar and keyboards in a band called Rick Stella and the brilltones……. Fun times LOL. I drive my poor wife crazy with my endless collection of Civil war series and history movies watching them over and over…God bless her.
-
What do you like most about Zibbet?
We like the ease of working with our studio and sleek look.
-
What ‘new’ things would you like to see added to Zibbet?
Batch editing sounds good. Languages for different countries.
More choice in categories for artists when adding an item such as Impressionism, Floral…
Graphs in the stats section and keywords used.
-
How do you promote your work?
We use twitter, facebook, flicker, google plus and with 100 web sites and galleries each drives the next to one venue or the other.Directories and the rest is word of mouth.
-
How would you recommend other Zibbeters make the most of Zibbet.com?
Link, link, link. ..connect with each other cross promote.

In the future I’d like to be…
In a Winnebago travelling and painting.
