Back in December, I posted an article about Pinterest, a new ‘pin board’ site that was quickly gaining in popularity and becoming all the rage. In case you’ve not noticed yet, Zibbet has added a ‘Pin It’ button to your item listings page. That’s right, if you have a Pinterest account you can ‘pin’ items straight from Zibbet with just a click or two of your mouse!

A recent study by Shopify.com reveals some interesting statistics that should encourage each of us to spend time pinning items from Zibbet shops. According to Shopify’s research, Pinterest is now the third most popular social networking site on the web, following Facebook and Twitter. Pinterest is also in close competition with Twitter for referrals to Shopify.com. Compared to the growth of Facebook and Twitter, it appears that Pinterest’s growth is “better than both FB & Twitter at the same point in their history”, according to Shopify. And in a study by RJ Metrics published last month, Etsy is reported as being “the most popular source of pin content”.

So how should this influence your Zibbet promotion efforts? I’d say it’s time to start pinning if you haven’t done so already! Zibbet shops offer a wide variety of interesting and unique products that shoppers need to know about. And sellers of handmade, fine art, vintage and craft supplies who’ve not yet discovered Zibbet as a host venue also need to hear about Zibbet. With Pinterest showing such positive stats, promoting Zibbet items and Zibbet overall through Pinterest looks like a win-win situation for everyone.

Click the little red Pinterest icon under your favorite Zibbet items and start ‘pinning’ today!

Best wishes for much success on Zibbet!

Another interesting stat from the Shopify study reveals that pins that include prices get 36% more likes than those without prices. To add the price of an item to its pin, type either a $ or £ followed by the price of the item somewhere in the description. The price will appear in the upper left hand corner of the item’s image. Please note that the price will also remain in the description so be sure you place it in a location that makes sense. Happy pinning!

I’m excited about Pinterest also. I’ve been using it casually since last year, but I’ve decided to take it up a notch and create a ‘Handmade Party’ board. This is a shared board and anyone in the handmade community is invited to pin to it. That way there are more pins and more traffic which leads to more views. I’ll gladly add anyone to the board or send an invite if you are not yet on Pinterest. You’ll find the board here - http://pinterest.com/msveronicas/handmade-pinterest-party/. Happy Pinning!

I wasn’t sure that showing a price tag was allowed.

Hannah, Showing prices is allowed on Pinterest. Actually, I found out how to have the price show from their website at http://pinterest.com/about/help/. You can find the info under Pinning and Repinning. Vicki
