Maple Lidded Vessel
Description
A hollowed form is something to see in woodturning. The outside of the form is created, the the inside is hollowed out using a technique known as blind turning because you cannot see the tool as it cuts. The walls of the form are no thicker than 1/4 of an inch. After completing the vessel, I create a lid and then turn the knob. This is a great piece of art that can dress up a mantel or be a center piece for a table.
The Maple tree used for this vessel came down during hurrican Ike in 2008 right here in Columbus, Ohio. The tree fell on a friend's home. their misfurtune was a windfall for me.
