I am a maker. Above all , I find joy in the creation of objects. My main fields of interest are pottery and textiles, though I occasionally have been known to take brush to canvas. I live on the Mira River in Beautiful Cape Breton, and am constantly inspired by the beauty around me, and by my two wonderful kids.
My pottery is made from porcelain clay, and is mostly handbuilt from very thin slabs, to obtain the fluid forms and light delicacy of the pieces. Occasionally I will throw pots on the wheel, but I prefer the tactile sense I get from building the componants from sheets of clay.
