Fabulously Twisted Costume Jewellery

Made from 14-kt gold-filled and sterling silver wire, which I then embellish with glorious beads, sparkling crystals, and other eye-catching materials, I create jewellery that is like wearable sculpture.

Wire, wire, hearts on fire!

To be able to use my hands to transform something as seemingly masculine and industrial as wire into a feminine and organic piece of wearable sculpture is a process that I am always thrilled by! It is this very characteristic of wire that gives it its strength and delicate beauty.

But the thing I love most about wire is its versatility: it can be bent, twisted, cut, crocheted, adorned with beads, and otherwise coaxed into any shape you can imagine.

I also like that it’s hard to exactly replicate every little twist and turn because that makes each piece absolutely unique.

Each of my jewellery collections is inspired by and named after something floral - the name 'flaurena' (pronounced flor-EH-na) is a portmanteau of two Spanish words, flor (flower) and Lorena (Lauren, my name).

Gold Fill vs. Gold Plate
°º°¨°º°¨°º°¨°º°¨°º°¨°º°¨°º°¨°º°
Each piece of flaurena™ jewellery is made from either 14kt gold-filled wire or sterling silver wire.

I do not use gold plate or silver plate in my pieces, believing that the higher price of 14-karat gold-filled and sterling silver wire is more than worth the cost.

What is gold fill? Briefly, it's a superior quality to gold plate, but is a practical and affordable alternative to solid gold. With gold plate, the thin covering of plated metal soon rubs off, it can turn your skin green, and is not hypoallergenic.

As someone who has lives overseas from her family, I have lots of personal experience with shipping items internationally!!

I list international shipping charges at $10 - this is a ball park figure which allows me to offer international shipping. I am happy to re-list an item reflecting the final shipping costs for where you live. Please contact me if you have any questions.

I will refund or exchange or alter (e.g. shortening a chain) an item free of charge, except for shipping.

I accept commissions!
It is always a leap of faith when commissioning anything (not just jewellery!) because it such a personal process. I pride myself on my ability to interpret what the client wants and will work with you closely to make sure I make the piece of jewellery you were hoping for!

I make a point of emailing photographs of the materials involved before the process begins, as well as of the finished piece before listing it.
