As I snorkeled off the coast of Maui, I encountered an endangered green sea turtle grazing on the rocks below me. The powerful sense of peace that washed over me inspired this design.

The Baby Peace Turtle measures approximately 3/4 inches wide by 1inch long. Each piece is individually sculpted and cast so measurements may differ slightly.

All Jewelry by North items are Sterling Silver sculptures made using the Lost Wax Casting process.

First, North carves a design out of wax. The wax sculpture then gets placed in a substance which is similar to plaster of paris called investment. The mold is then baked for 10-12 hours in a kiln. The next step is for molten metal, in our case Sterling Silver, to be poured into the mold. Then, the investment is quenched in water, causing it to dissolve and the raw metal sculpture is born!

The finishing process of hand grinding and hand polishing then takes place and the sculpture is now ready to be worn.
