Keishi pearls are formed when the mollusk ejects the pearl bead nucleus but continues to make a pearl.

Pearls have symbolized purity and innocence for centuries possibly because when they were discovered they seemed to miraculously come from the sea. An object so beautiful and unexpectedly found in an oyster must have caused awe and desire.
Pearls are said to enhance personal honesty and integrity.
