1950s Copper Finish Swingspout Measure Co One Quart Oil Can, Automobilia Collectible
1950s Copper Finish Swingspout Measure Co One Quart Oil Can, Rusty Automobilia Collectible.
This can was manufactured with a copper finish over galvanized tin and still has approx one third of the original copper finish left, the rest is rusty, inside and out.
Swingspout Measure Co. received a patent for their oil cans in 1927. Invented by Scott Allen,
the spout of the oil can swings from an upright position to a down position, enabling easier access to the crank case opening of engines.
The lettering is still readable and includes the patent information, Swingspout Measure Co (New York Chicago Los Angeles), One Quart and more which can be seen in the pictures
6"H, 5-1/2" diameter. The movable spout is approx 7-1/2" long.
Wonderful rustic, shabby decor item, watering can or addition to automobilia collection
