The clothe we Tayronas weave and wear is our life
because of one alone weaves the cloth of one’s life

Let us consider the Kogi indians´ philosophical wisdom from the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, today, who speak arhuaco, They compare the act of spinning with the process of thinking. On occasions the one guilty of unacceptable behaviour will be ordered by their priest (the mamo) to spin as a type of moral teaching. Because, they say "When one is spinning, one reflects, Thus, while seated twisting the thread over one's thigh, one thinks a great deal about people, about work, about everything... ".

Once the person is sat before the loom, their thoughts are interwoven as is a cloth and this cloth is life. The clothing the Kogi wears is his life because "One alone weaves the cloth of one's life" as is one of the mamo messages when he addresses the community regarding human destiny and the profound solitude in which one must find ethical superation.
