Early mid-century (1940s) Sadler 1686 gold and maroon teapot with lid. Maroon stripes, gold leaves, edge and accents. Swirled body.
Early mid-century (1940s) Sadler 1686 maroon and gold hand-painted teapot with lid. Teapot features broad maroon bands, inset gold leaves and a gold edge and accents with a swirled body shape.
This teapot has 2 hairline cracks to the inside rim where the lids fits into place (please refer to the posted photos for a complete visual of the teapot), but otherwise there are NO! chips, nicks, cracks, or fleabites. There is significant wear to the gold of the handle and some minor gold wear to the edge of the spout and there are a few random and light scratches to the maroon bands. The teapot is well cured and there are tannin stains on the inside bowl of the pot. The teapot exhibits less than normally expected crazing. Again please do - ALWAYS! - review each of the posted photos for a complete visual of the item(s).
Teapot has the artist's brush mark in red to base as well as the gold decorator's mark.
