Our shop policies
Thank you for stopping by my Zibbet shop, the home for Moxie and Oliver's internet shop. Though in name we are two, it's just me, Caitlin, here making, selling, answering convos, and writing my shop policies. I've been making leather goods since I was a wee child, but began doing it as more than a hobby in 2005. I realized that I needed a black belt, and couldn't find one that I liked. So, I made one myself. Then, a few violations of the dress-code later, I began making fashionable accessories that were unique, timeless, and fully office-appropriate. There's no reason that your accessories can't be interesting, even if your apparel can't be. Since I started Moxie and Oliver, I've worked on refining my techniques and designs. Where my work is rooted in traditional leather techniques, it's taken a very modern twist and direction. I use the same durable full-grain tooling hides that traditional leather crafters do, but give them my own unique spin. Most of my items are lovingly made-to-order, and since each one is individually handmade, no two are exactly the same. I hope you enjoy my work, and if you have any questions about it, don't hesitate to ask.
Unless otherwise specified, I will ship your purchase to your PAYPAL ADDRESS. Please be sure that your PAYPAL ADDRESS is the one you would like your item shipped to. If you've made a mistake in your Paypal address, I realize it won't let you change it, so just contact me as soon as possible so I can change it manually in the shipping system.
I ship USPS First Class for items under 13oz, Priority for items up to 2lbs (or that fit in a flat-rate box), and USPS Parcel Post for items heavier than 2lbs, or larger than a flat-rate box. I ship internationally by USPS as well, using First Class for small items, Priority flat-rate boxes for small purses, and Parcel Post for larger items. I do not automatically insure shipments under $150. I will insure shipments automatically where the purchase price of the merchandise only (not including shipping or tax) is $150 or more, or if the item is a purse or messenger bag. If you would like to purchase insurance, please contact me so that I can calculate the cost with insurance of shipping your parcel.
International insured parcels start at $25 and go up from there. The post office only offers insurance on priority parcels, which is why they are so expensive to ship (but they get to you faster!).
I cannot be responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items should you choose not to insure it.
Refunds, returns & exchanges
Paypal is my preferred method of payment. Should you choose not to keep a Paypal account, I can also send you an invoice that will allow you to pay directly by credit or debit card. In rare and pre-approved circumstances only, I will consider accepting another form of payment such as a check or money-order. Orders not paid by Paypal may be delayed due to bank processing times.
I expect payment to be made upon purchase, though I also realize that this isn't always possible. Etsy's original policy was that you make payment within three days, and unless other arrangements have been made, I expect the same. If you are unable to make payment within three days, please contact me and we can set up a payment plan or make alternate arrangements. Nonpayment may result in negative feedback.
I do require pre-payment in full on all custom orders. I ask that you please make sure that the description in your custom listing is correct prior to purchasing. In the event that you need to make a change in your order (pattern, colors, etc.) please contact me as soon as possible and I will do my best to accommodate.
Sales tax charged to all purchases shipped to Washington State.
I stand behind the quality and construction of my work. I use only high quality full-grain tooling leather hides for the construction of the pieces, as well as a durable lining leather for the insides of the wallets (and some msc. hardware here and there, but that's too long of a list). This may not be the type of leather that you are accustomed to for handbags - it's thicker, stronger, and will last longer. Where a regular belt, wallet, or bag will last about two to four years, mine can last ten times that.
I lovingly make every item to order, and do my best to quality check each piece before it leaves my studio. Sometimes, however, I do miss something. If you receive a piece that is defective or if there is a mistake in a custom piece, please contact me within twenty-four hours so that I can arrange to repair or replace it.
Due to the individual nature of my business, I request that you carefully make your purchasing decisions. I want you to be happy with your purchase, and to get something that you will be happy with for years to come. I do my best to list all information that I find pertinent in my listings, but if you need additional information about a product in order to make your buying decision I am happy to answer any questions that you have. Please remember that unless the item is damaged or incorrect, all sales are final. Regretfully, I cannot accept returns or exchanges for a change of mind or a change of heart.
Anything in my shop that comes in sizes will be made to order (this mostly includes belts and watches) and the very best way to get the very best fit is to provide me with your exact measurement when ordering, or shortly thereafter.
Want to give some M&O but don't know what? I am happy to provide gift certificates for any dollar value, either as a physical certificate or as an e-certificate. Just ask!
Have a special day coming up? I am more than happy to create a registry for you with everything on your M&O wishlist. Just send me a convo to get started.
I presently do not sell wholesale, or on consignment. Moxie and Oliver on Etsy is the only place to currently purchase my products. This ensures that you will get the highest quality M&O products at the best price, which is ultimately my goal.
VEGAN ALTERNATIVE/ ENVIRO CONCERNS
I've been asked a few times, but unfortunately I cannot do a vegan version of any of my wares. Due to the process that I use, vinyl or a synthetic product would not hold up.
I do assure you that, for those of you who have environmental concerns, I use eco-friendly dyes and paints in my work. My goal is to provide pieces that will hold up for use and abuse as well, so that they do not have to be thrown away in a few years (or months... I'm really hard on my bags!). I would rather have you purchase one bag from me and never need to replace it - it saves materials and space in the landfill, and it also saves you money!
WATCH MEASUREMENTS: I need your tight wrist measurement, so please make sure that whatever method you use, it's snug, and don't add anything to it (please!!). The best method is to use a cloth tape measure, like a seamstress would use. If you cannot find one, the next best thing is to grab a friend and a strip of paper and a ruler. Wrap the paper tightly around your wrist, and mark where the paper meets. Measure this distance, and that should be your tight wrist measurement.
BELT MEASUREMENTS: You can measure your hips/waist with a cloth tape measure where you wear your jeans. That's the best way, or you can measure a belt (using a tape measure, or cloth tape measure) from the end of the belt to the hole you currently use. This is not such an exact science, because there are seven holes in the belts, spaced 1" apart. I will put your measurement on the middle hole, so if you've made a mistake in measuring, there are still six other holes to choose from.
If you're buying a belt for a gift, or have no tape measures, you can choose from standard sizes (below) or contact me with the recipient's pant size:
XS: Smallest hole at 27", largest at 33"
S: Smallest hole at 29", largest at 35"
M: Smallest hole at 31", largest at 37"
L: Smallest hole at 33", largest at 39"
XL: Smallest hole at 35", largest at 41"
Smaller and larger sizes also available.
