Lighthouse Portrait: Port Washington Fury
I have a portrait called "November Fury" which was captured in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This one was taken the same day, only 75 miles north in a town called Port Washington, Wisconsin. Another one of my favorite places, this lighthouse was pounded by the same ferocious nor'easter that produced a spectacular day of photography that will likely never be duplicated.
My window of opportunity was only about two minutes long and things happened just perfectly. Behind me, the sun was shining brightly through a small break in the clouds. I waited with my Nikon pointed at the lighthouse, propped up on a pier pole I was using as a makeshift tripod. I waited and waited, hoping to capture something dramatic before the sun disappeared behind the next cloud front. After about 90 seconds, I saw a huge wave approach the lighthouse. My heart literally started to pound harder inside my chest as I knew this was going to be a GREAT shot!
This portrait looks very sharp in a black or wood toned frame with a white or light cream colored mat (not included).
