Oyster Platter. French 1970's Seafood Platter. Ideal for Oysters, Mussels & Scallops. Table Centrepiece for Dinner Parties or Banquets
Dating from the 1970's this platter has been 'spray' glazed individually. It is marked 'Peint Main' (hand-painted) on the base. The rich, terracotta 'earthy' brown has been overlaid with a glossy 'foam' layer of white glaze, giving the surface movement and the oyster shell wells 'ridges'. It's wonderfully tactile and alluring. There cannot be a more stylish way to serve your seafood course at dinner parties.
Originally designed for serving ' Huitres' (Oysters) it could also be used for 'Coquilles St. Jacques', (Scallops) or other seafood. It would make a stylish addition to any mediterranean table setting and would be a thoughtful gift for any chef with a love of the sea.
This platter has thirteen 'wells', measures 32cms / 9½" diameter and weighs 1.3kgs /2.8 Lbs. It has a 'Faience de France' pottery mark on the underside.
It is in perfect condition, with no chips, scratches or cracks.
