Japanese Paper Origami Doll Daisuke

by umeorigami

This Japanese Paper Doll (warabe ningyo) is hand-folded with chiyogami paper. This little boy wears a deep navy blue kimono with white and red Japanese seals. There are stunning gold seal and calligraphic details as well. He has two contrasting colors near the neckline in red and white, and a golden obi made from heavily textured paper ribbon.

Daisuke would look stunning in a scrap-book, or as an embellishment on a card or package. If you would prefer him as a refrigerator magnet, please indicate so in your order and I will attach one to his back.

He will arrive between two sheets of cardboard to keep her flat during shipping.

The name "Daisuke" comes from the Japanese for 大 (dai) "large, great" and 輔 (suke) "help." It is also the name of a famous baseball player on the Yankees (Dice-K)!

*NOTE* Since the original has been sold, the doll you receive may differ very slightly in hairstyle or pattern placement. Although I use the same paper and materials, each doll is truly one-of-a-kind!
